SEASON 1 FINALE: Iron Roof (Original Song)

It's the end of the year, and thus the end of Season 1 of Listenin' Too Closely! To celebrate the occasion, Liam and Fletcher have banded together and written an ORIGINAL SONG titled Iron Roof. In this episode, our hosts break down the process of writing together and share exactly how this song came to fruition. Who knows... perhaps they'll make this an end of season event?

Liam and Fletcher would like to wish all the Listenin' Too Closely fans a Merry Christmas and a happy New Year, and reassure you that they'll be back in 2022 for SEASON 2 of Listenin' Too Closely!

Snoopy‘s Christmas

It's Christmas time, so naturally, Liam and Fletcher just had to do a Christmas song! After hours of sifting through various festive tunes, they finally landed on the big favourite, Snoopy's Christmas by The Royal Guardsmen. This song came with more than its share of surprises, so in addition to the usual music and lyrics breakdown, you'll also learn about such things as: aircraft aerodynamics and how it's not recommended to have icy wings when dogfighting with the Red Baron; the 5 part Snoopy series (it's a thing); Liam and Fletcher's adventures through Germany; and the grievances they have with pine trees.

You‘ll Be Back

A musical number is long overdue! This week on Listenin' Too Closely, Liam and Fletcher explore all sorts of interesting details about You'll Be Back from the Lin-Manuel Miranda musical, Hamilton. With quirky (and yet historically clever) lyrics, catchy music, and a Tony Award winning performance by Jonathan Groff for his portrayal of King George III, this song has our hosts exploring all sorts of fun tangents, including: Queen Elizabeth II winning the Commonwealth Games, Liam's most likely dead history professor friend from Texas, the Boston Tea Party (which is almost as ridiculous as it sounds), and the interesting answers from an interview with the much loved, Jonathan Groff. HOT 100: Easy On Me (ft. Brayden Jeffrey)

It's time for another HOT 100 episode, this time featuring Listenin' Too Closely's debut special guest songwriter, Brayden Jeffrey (who was just chosen at random on the street). They roll the dice to get the song of the moment, 'Easy On Me' by Adele, and together, dive into some great discussions about music, lyrics and songwriting in general. Not only that, but they somehow go on such tangents as: how Adele's album is delivered in special cages, the suspiciously perfect placement of Liam's album on the wall, why Listenin' Too Closely is actually created in Through Composed, and Adele's untapped potential for starting World War 3. Pokémon Theme

You'd have never guessed it or thought it possible, but this week on Listenin' Too Closely, Liam and Fletcher break down the 'Pokémon Theme' from, well, Pokémon. It's safe to say that Liam has never been happier, so he spends at least half the episode just talking about Pokémon. Not only is this popular theme song an absolute banger, but it got our hosts talking about all sorts of things, such as: Fletcher's childhood longdrop, the  great 2 Degrees summer data hunt, Liam's likeness to a computer hacker guy, and the one and only Amazing Grace / Pokémon Theme mashup. Life‘s Been Good

In this week's episode of Listenin' Too Closely, Liam and Fletcher discuss Joe Walsh's solo hit, Life's Been Good. Not only are the lyrics of this song ridiculously hilarious and the music wildly clever, but it also evoked many strange conversations about: seagulls, Fletcher's intimate knowledge of construction, the difference between ducks and sheep, and the brand new Listenin' Too Closely slogan, "If it's difficult, it's worth doing". Confused? Well get listenin'!

HAVE YOU HEARD: Dreamin‘

It's time for another HAVE YOU HEARD episode on Listenin' Too Closely! This time Liam brings a personal favourite of his to the table, a super catchy song called Dreamin' by the Japanese rock band, BOØWY. Not only do Liam and Fletcher dive into this tune's music and lyrics, but they also talk about plumbers and mushrooms, have a terribly failed attempt at translating Japanese lyrics, and complain about guitar players that can't sing. Curious? Well get listenin'!

HOT 100: Essence

Liam and Fletcher are back with another HOT 100 episode, and this time the dice lands on 'Essence' by WizKid, ft. Justin Bieber and Tems. Fletcher isn't shy about expressing his opinion after just wasting four minutes of his life, so it's lucky we have Liam to reveal a more worldly perspective! There really isn't much to talk about in a song that never changes, so they instead talk about Hailey Baldwin's rich parents, Barack Obama's favourite songs, and Fletcher's incessant need to know what 'fi' means. Intrigued? Well get listenin'!

Thriller

It's HALLOWEEN this week, so Liam and Fletcher have put together a special, spooky episode for the occasion - coincidentally their 13th episode of Listenin' Too Closely! This week they tackle one of the greatest selling songs of all time, the pop music phenomenon, 'Thriller' by Michael Jackson. Not only that, but they someone talk about how true the Twilight books are to real life, Dan Aykroyd's UFO obsession, Vincent Price's big fuck up, and the shocking title that this song very nearly had.  Scared? Well get listenin'!

HAVE YOU HEARD: Down By The Salley Gardens

It's time for a new segment to join the HOT 100 series on Listenin' Too Closely! This week, Liam and Fletcher launch a brand new segment called HAVE YOU HEARD, where with each episode they spotlight a song that the general population has likely never heard of. To kick things off, Fletcher's chosen a beautiful Irish folk song called 'Down By The Salley Gardens', performed by Sam Kelly and first written by the great Irish poet, William Butler Yeats. However, just when you think it's about poetic gardens, it turns suddenly into an episode all about the Harry Potter film series and the correct way to fiddle a fiddle. Interested? Well get listenin'!
